What is the Tea Party Movement?*
Well that is a long answer, so brace yourself. But it starts with the dumbing down of America via the public education MONOPOLY which is more concerned with teachers unions and teaching politically correct garbage instead of teaching critical thinking, our founding principles, and the three Rs.
The press is also at fault for deciding not to look too closely or do any digging on this guy (Obama) and instead became cheerleaders for his campaign. (This nicely coincides with the death of journalism in this country.)
Ultimately we are a nation that as a whole had become apathetic, lethargic, and stupid. We have stopped questioning if we are a people self-governed or a governed people with no concept of "self".
I don't know what set you off on this tirade today but perhaps you should have shared that so I might understand your angst old buddy. :-)
The Tea Party movement is not about fighting every battle against every perceived wrong. The Tea Party movement is about taking back our country from a political elite that has entrenched itself in Washington for two generations. A political class that not only ignores, we the people, but in fact holds us in contempt.
The Tea Party is about the same principle behind the original Boston Tea Party in 1773. It's about Independence from an oppressive government that has grown out of control. A government which believes that nothing is off limits - the Constitution, personal property, individual freedom, nor the limits set upon it by a people. People that entrusted it to secure those freedoms within the boundaries that were set in our Constitution.
We have a legislative branch that believes they can control every aspect of our life based on the commerce clause, an executive branch that feels free to wage wars the world over without the consent of the people (via a formal Declaration of War), and a judicial branch that believes they can make law instead of simply ruling on it.
This was to be government with the consent of the people. Tea Partiers are telling the government, "you work for us!".
The Tea Party is about the freedom to keep the fruits of their labor and sweat to be spent locally rather than sending it to D.C. so that another road can be named after a corrupt politician, or spent on rain forests in Iowa, or bridges to nowhere. We are tired of being ignored, snared at, and held in contempt by the same people who forcibly separate us from what we get up for every day at 5 AM to earn.
We are sick and tired of this ruling class constantly over stepping their authority. We are sick and tired of their social engineering, and their "social justice". We are sick of them spitting on God and mocking our beliefs while building Mosques at Ground Zero.
We want to be independent and free. This Republic is not a collective, we are a nation of individuals with our own hopes and dreams, ambitions and innovations. We know that the phrase "spreading the wealth around" is code for communism. The same ideology that killed over 100 million people in the 20th Century - more than all religious wars combined. But we are also a Christian nation which means we don’t need government to tell us to help those in need or take care of our neighbors. We already do that. But that is not good enough for the leviathan that has become our federal government. God Almighty Himself only requests 10% of our income, but our government wants 60%. And they want that money after they have removed God from every public place thus spitting on our unique and wonderful heritage as a God fearing nation. But that is only natural for a government that seeks to replace God with themselves and meddle in every aspect of our lives because they KNOW what’s best - for all of us.
The list of the Government’s offenses against We, the People, are long and unlawful. We have tried to talk to those who are supposed to represent us, but they refuse to listen. The Tea Party is here to take back our country, to reestablish a free nation governed by the People and for the People - one Nation, under God.
He has erected a multitude of new offices, and sent hither swarms of officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.
He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his assent to their acts of pretended legislation:
In every stage of these oppressions we have petitioned for redress in the most humble terms: our repeated petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

That is what the Tea Party movement is about.
